Concealed Carry in Utah

The UT Department of Public Safety, Criminal Identification Bureau, administers the concealed carry program.

Utah is a shall issue state. Anyone over 21 with a clean record may apply and obtain a license. Anyone 18 to 20 may also apply for a provisional carry permit.

While Utah is a permitless carry state, having the concealed carry license has some benefit. One is carrying the firearm loaded and in a ready condition. The other is reciprocity with other states so that one may carry concealed while traveling.

Obtaining a permit requires a training class, fingerprints and background check and paying a reasonable fee.
